When I read the phrase “work from home’ or anything similar I am immediately skeptical because there are so many bullshit offers around with the promise of easy money from home. But I genuinely and consistently earn good money from Elance. It is a no gimmicks business that offers freelance work in a large range of fields.

What is a Forensic Accountant?

Forensic accounting is a specialist accounting field for someone with a keen investigative mind.  A forensics accountant specialises in finding abnormalities in record keeping, typically finding those things someone does not want to be found, perhaps to hide incompetence, profit fudging or downright fraudulent activity.

It involves investigating accounting, highlighting ‘creative accounting’.

Whereas accounting is all about recording and keeping records and then representing the financial reports, forensic accounting is about looking at the validity of all these practices.

It is very different from routine auditing that can be laborious and simply finding inaccuracies.  The forensic accountant is normally involved in investigative work, looking for suspect accounting practices, or investigating suspect practices identified in the routine auditing process.
